Dear Families,

Happy New Year!  Happy Winter!

We have had a wonderful beginning to our new year.  Everyone was ready to get back into the routine of school, and it was fun reconnecting with our friends after a holiday break.

Over the next few weeks your child’s teacher will be scheduling parent/teacher conferences. This is an important opportunity for us to connect with you to share student progress and set goals for future performance.  Your child’s teacher spends a great deal of time preparing to meet with you.  To help you make the most of this time, I am offering some suggestions that may assist you in preparing for your conference.

  • Prepare a written list of questions in advance.
  • Be on time. The teacher is scheduling many conferences and strives to stay on schedule to honor each family’s time.
  • Stay on topic.
  • Ask what you can do at home to help your child be successful at school.

Conferences are a wonderful way to stay connected to your child’s world of school. Throughout the year the teachers communicate in various ways: newsletters, blogs, emails, Twitter, or a combination may be used to keep you informed of life in Rowe School classrooms.

The children are coming to school well-prepared for the winter temperatures.  Thank you for making sure your child is wearing a hat, jacket, gloves or mittens, snow pants and boots.  This is the expected wardrobe for outdoor play until spring arrives….April perhaps??  Thank you also for making sure your child has sneakers to wear during the day as we do not want boots worn in the classroom.

Our lending closet of clothes is getting low. If you have outgrown clothing, particularly boys’ pants and underwear, we could certainly use them. We are also low on mittens and gloves. Thank you.

If you are planning to join your child for school lunch, please call ahead to place your order so the Nutrition Staff can plan appropriately.

Our school nurse, Jill Webber, now has health information for you on our website under the teacher pages. There will be newly added information at the top of the page, specific to the season or to an illness. It will also have topics that will always be available for reference such as guidelines for when to keep your child home from school, immunization requirements, procedure for taking medication at school and others. Check it out and let Jill know if you have any questions or other information that might be helpful for her to include.
