Floor plan for Yarmouth Elementary School

In November, the voters of Yarmouth approved a $52 million bond for the expansion of all four Yarmouth schools, and a complete renovation of the Elementary School. Since that time we have been taking steps necessary to begin construction in the fall of 2019.  A Building Committee has been formed and has begun meeting to oversee this work on behalf of the School Committee and the Yarmouth community, and  Harriman Architects and Engineers has been hired to complete the design documents and manage the lengthy permitting and construction bidding process.

Over the next 8 months, construction documents will be completed, proper permits will be issued, and final designs of the interior and exterior of each building will be decided upon.  It is anticipated that groundbreaking will occur in October, though the phasing of the four projects will be decided at a later date.  It will take approximately one year from groundbreaking to complete work at Rowe and Harrison Middle School, one and a half years at Yarmouth High School, and two full years at Yarmouth Elementary School.  During construction, there will likely be temporary classrooms at HMS and YES, and we are working with the architects to develop a construction schedule that will provide the lease interruption while yielding the safest, most efficient path toward completion.

Please stay apprised of this work by viewing our construction webpage, where you will find concept plans and agendas and minutes of our Building Committee meetings.
