Many thanks to our School Nutrition Team for the delicious Thanksgiving lunch today! It was a huge hit with students and staff.

The HMS Drama program is back! Come see the 6th grade play today - performances are at 1 PM and 5 PM in the HMS Cafetorium. Special thanks to our director, Kate Bauer, for all of her efforts!

Yesterday, five HMS students attended a Student Leadership Conference at the Hyde School in Brunswick. Thank you to our Student Leadership Team advisors, Ms. Burrows and Ms. Harber, for making this wonderful learning opportunity a reality for these student leaders!

What a great day to read in our library!

Yarmouth Schools will return to normal operations, with activities resuming on Saturday morning and schools reopening on Monday morning. Superintendent Dolloff has sent a more extensive message by email to all district contacts.

Schools in Yarmouth will remain closed on Friday, October 27. Offices will also be closed, and no student activities will be held. Superintendent Dolloff will be providing a more extensive update to all staff and families later today.

Yarmouth Schools will be closed today - Thursday, October 26 - due to the shelter-in-place and ongoing search for a person of interest in last evening's tragedy in Lewiston that impacts many of our staff and families. All offices will be closed as we urge folks to remain off the roads as much as possible. Information on resources for supporting students and adults in the face of this tragedy will be shared by email later this morning.

Good evening - Please know that Yarmouth Schools are aware of the horrific situation in Lewiston and we are in communication with law enforcement. We will continue to monitor the situation and will make the best decisions we can regarding schools and the support we can provide for students and families in the coming days. We will communicate more early tomorrow morning.

Sam Bessey and Ian Friedel, 7th graders, created a plaque on the 3D printer for a library bookshelf created by 8th-grader Jasper Keller. Ian and Sam then installed the plaque themselves. Such a fun community creation!

Welcome to Bus Safety Week in the Yarmouth Schools, culminating with Bus Driver Appreciation Day on Friday! Students will be participating in bus safety drills throughout the week, and we encourage all automobile drivers to rededicate themselves to watching for buses, bikers, and pedestrians as our students travel to and from school each day.

The HMS Volleyball team is taking on Greely today!

Much gratitude to our maintenance team, and in particular, Jamie and Dan, for their fine work building and installing new display shelves in our library. Their work supports our students' access to wonderful new books!

Our 8th-grade Boys' Soccer team competed against Brunswick Junior High today at Winslow Field. It was a competitive game!

Our football team is in action against G-NG on the turf this afternoon!

A gas detector in the kitchen has set off the fire alarm at Frank H. Harrison Middle School. Students and staff have evacuated the building and the Yarmouth Fire Department is on the scene. We will notify you when the building is cleared for occupancy.

This afternoon our Language Arts teachers took part in a professional development activity similar to rock/paper/scissors, based on the first line(s) of the book they are currently reading. We learned that this is an engaging way to stimulate student interest in multiple books!

Congrats to YSD Tech Director Mike Arsenault on his Innovative Leader Award from Tech & Learning magazine!

We have well over 100 bikers a day at HMS - about 1/3 of our students! We can also identify this amount as .333 or 33.3%. We love to see so many of our students biking and walking to school. We also love math!

One of the hallmarks of HMS is that we are a community that reads. The line to check out books during the first two days of school has been lengthy!

Sorry for that error in our first message. It's the 2023 school year! Time flies, but not that fast. Enjoy the day!!
