Yarmouth School Bus

This week is National School Bus Safety Week, and here at the Yarmouth School Department, we are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our students during their transportation to and from school. School buses remain the safest known transportation method for students across the nation, and we take that responsibility seriously.

As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, our Yarmouth Transportation Drivers are conducting safety evacuation drills with all students as they ride to and from school this week. These drills help students understand the critical safety measures they need to follow in the event of an emergency. In fact, we've already started practice evacuation drills and have worked closely with the Rowe School to conduct a full evacuation drill with classes scheduled for this Friday.

During these drills, our transportation staff reviews important procedures, including:

- How to properly exit the bus in case of an emergency
- The importance of remaining calm and listening to the driver’s instructions
- Safe crossing procedures after exiting the bus
- Understanding emergency exits and equipment on the bus

Additionally, please check out our School Bus Safety Week flyer, which includes more tips and reminders for students and families. Let's work together to ensure the continued safety of our students!
