March

March 2, 2020

Dear Rowe Families,

It is hard to believe that February has already flown by. We hope you all had a restful winter break and were able to enjoy family time. I know some of you headed to warm places and for those who stayed in Maine, the weather allowed for enjoyable time outside. Thanks to all who donated items to our food drive for the Yarmouth Food Pantry prior to vacation. The drive was a huge success and your help is much appreciated!

Read Across America

This week, each classroom at Rowe will have a guest reader come in from the Yarmouth school community to read aloud to their class! On Friday, March 6th, all students are invited to wear their pajamas to school and may bring a stuffed animal that will fit in their backpacks.

Community Meeting

Our February community meeting was hosted by Mrs. Good’s and Ms. Melevsky’s kindergarten classes. We focused on a celebration of our 100th day of school. We did ten sets of ten different exercises and practiced our estimating skills. We also reviewed the bar graph that was used to monitor our food pantry collection efforts. It was determined that over 450 items were brought in by our Rowe families!

Author Visit

As we head into March, we are looking forward to our author visit with Ryan Higgins on March 18th. An order form was sent home last week. The last day to order is this Wednesday, March 4th. Please let your child’s teacher know if you need another form. Some questions have arisen about whether it is possible to send in books that you already have at home to be signed by Ryan. Unfortunately, only books purchased from Royal River Books will be signed by the author as he has a finite amount of time here. He will be signing many of the books in advance based on information included on the order form. Thanks in advance for your understanding!

Rowe Show musical performance for first graders

The Rowe Show is a musical performance for first-grade students only on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, from 6:30-7:00 PM at the Yarmouth High School Performing Arts Center (YPAC). We are looking forward to this special evening. This is an annual event that gives students their first opportunity to experience a stage performance, something they will do each year for the next several years of their school careers.

Lost and Found

We have a number of items accumulating in our lost and found, many of which are single gloves and mittens. Please stop by the table in our lobby if you are coming in for a parent-teacher conference in the near future to look for missing items. Thank you!

Substitute Teachers needed:

Our schools are all still in need of substitute teachers. If you or anyone you know may be interested, please direct calls to Melissa Marston at our superintendent’s office for more information. The telephone number there is 846-5586.
