Dear Families,

Today we held Step Up Day for rising first and second graders. Needless to say, there was lots of excitement! Your child will come home with their learning profile and a letter with the teacher placement for next year. Please be looking for these items in the home to school folder. For students who will not be returning next year, our school counselor, Mrs. Dunn, provided some play and activities for them during the Step-Up Day.

The second-grade teachers from YES came to Rowe this afternoon to meet with their new students. A message was sent to parents earlier today for rising second graders with a virtual presentation from Mr. Gleason, YES principal. This provides an overview of what to expect in second grade. Both Rowe and YES teachers and administrators will be in touch in August with welcome letters and more information regarding school welcome days for families, along with other pertinent information.

We have some new staff next year at Rowe. Sarah Pritchard and Mandy Queally will both be joining the first-grade team. Ms. Pritchard has spent the last five years teaching first grade in Saco. Mrs. Queally has been with us for this past year in a one-year position in first grade. She has previous teaching experience in grades Pre-K-2.

The other first grade teachers are as follows:

Mrs. McFarland, Mrs. Boutin, Ms. Berry, and Miss Cross, who will be getting married this summer, is going to now be known as Mrs. Vallance.

In kindergarten, Jill Tucker has been hired in a one-year position. Katie Caron, one of our kindergarten teachers, is taking a one-year leave of absence. Mrs. Tucker has been a building substitute this year and has most recently taught in a long term first-grade position since March. Mrs. Tucker also comes to us with previous teaching experience in the early grades. The kindergarten teachers for next year are Mrs. Good, Mrs. Elder, Ms. Melevsky, Mrs. Bradford, Mrs. Tucker, Ms. Finnen, and Mrs. Lemay.

In addition, Nancy Rochat is coming on board as a social worker. Mrs. Gross, our social worker for the past eleven years, has decided to expand her private counseling practice and will not be returning in the fall. Miriam Epstein has been hired for the administrative assistant position in the front office to fill the job currently held by Amanda Murray. We are very excited to welcome all of these new staff members to our Rowe team!

A message from the Technology Department

Hello Families!

The final pieces of this bizarre year are falling into place. As you look at wrapping the year up, you may be concerned about losing work done digitally by your child either on Seesaw or our other learning systems.

  • Your child's teacher has directions on how to upload any pictures, videos, or other files saved on your child's iPad to his or her Google account, which will follow them through graduation from YHS.

  • If you would like to download a copy of all the work done through Seesaw this year, please follow this link for step-by-step directions on how to do that. Even though we are a Seesaw for Schools paid district, allowing us access to some items from prior years, having a copy for your own records is strongly recommended.

Thank you, as always, for your patience and perseverance!

-Todd Abbott, Tech Integrator, Rowe & YES

As a reminder, tomorrow, June 15th, is the last student day for the 2020-2021 school year. Students will be dismissed at 12:00. Any students who order a school lunch will be given a bagged lunch to take with them. Lunch will not be served at school tomorrow. There will be a snack time at some point in the morning, as always.

We hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing summer. We wish all the best to the families moving on to YES and look forward to welcoming the current kindergarten students to first grade in the fall!

Sincerely,

Susan Lobel, Principal
